Whilst I do not agree with the thoughts behind the book it does give a very clear window onto the way many modern business managers treat staff as a consumable that can be written off if they do not follow the need for change philosophy. |

Anita Roddick's book is the story of some-one starting with a loan to build a business which has been enormously successful using all kinds of criteria. I particularly admire the way she has fought to maintain her integrity and stick to her well defined principles. Her first words in the book are I am still looking for the modern day equivalent of those Quakers who ran successful businesses, made money because they offered honest products and treated their people decently, worked hard, spent honestly, saved honestly, gave honest value for money, put back more than they took out and told no lies. This business creed, sadly seems long forgotten. |
